Join us for a hike on the beautiful Palmer Section 16 trail!

This hike is a favorite with locals and one of the most scenic hikes in Colorado Springs. The trail winds through a diverse landscape of red rock outcroppings, scrub oak, pine forest, and canyons. At various points throughout the hike, there are incredible views of Garden of the Gods, Red Rock Canyon, the Front Range and the plains. Enjoy a stunning trail most visitors don’t get to see!

What to expect:
This is a moderately challenging 6 mile loop hike with a starting elevation of 6,600 ft.  The hike starts with a gentle incline, which then becomes steeper as the trail goes into the forest, with an overall elevation gain of 1,299 ft. This hike is best suited for intermediate hikers who are acclimated to Colorado Springs’ elevation.

– Approximate time: 3-3.5 hours

What to wear/bring:
– Shoes with good traction
– Layers (our weather can change quickly)
– Plenty of water (we recommend at least 1.5 liters)
– Snacks
– Sun protection
– Trekking poles (optional but may be helpful)

Directions: From U.S. Highway 24, take 21st Street south. Turn west on Lower Gold Camp Road and continue straight onto Gold Camp Road at the 4-way stop intersection.  The trailhead will be on the right after approximately 1 mile.
