Join us for an incredible hike to the summit of panoramic Mt. Muscoco!
This “best of the canyon” hike is a custom route that starts from the upper lot in North Cheyenne Cañon and follows a series of trails through the forest to the summit of Mt. Muscoco. While there’s some debate about the origins of the peak’s name, there’s complete agreement that the Mt. Muscoco summit is spectacular. At the top, you’ll enjoy 360-degree views of Colorado Springs, Pikes Peak, and the surrounding mountain range.
What to expect:
This is a moderately challenging 5.5 mile hike with a starting elevation of 7,500 ft. This hike has some rocky terrain, lots of incline and a few steep sections, with an overall elevation gain of 1,200 ft. Due to the length and elevation gain, this hike is suitable for intermediate hikers acclimated to Colorado Springs’ elevation.
– Difficulty level: moderate
– Length: 5.5 miles (out and back)
– Elevation gain: 1,200 ft
– Approximate time: 3 hours
What to wear/bring:
– Shoes with good traction
– Layers (our weather can change quickly)
– Plenty of water (we recommend at least 1.5 liters)
– Snacks
– Sun protection
– Trekking poles strongly recommended (if you need to check out a pair from us, let us know in the booking notes!)
Where to meet:
Meet at the Seven Bridges/Upper Gold Camp lot in North Cheyenne Cañon Park. There is no exact address for this lot (and many addresses online are incorrect – don’t use them). The lot is at the very top of N. Cheyenne Canyon Road. Once you enter the park, continue 3.2 miles up the road (past Helen Hunt Falls) until you reach a large paved parking lot at the top. Meet at the end of the lot where you enter (opposite end from where the porta-potties are). Google Maps directions at this link: https://maps.app.goo.gl/CKgY5j3ECSEVqMky8
